It’s important to note that for the most part Fluxx is Fluxx. There are so many themed versions out there, but they all fundamentally play the same way: each player must navigate through ever changing rules and goals to win (ie, the name of the game comes from this fluctuation of rules and goals). Fluxx seems to be a love it or hate it game, as long complex games can turn on the luck of a draw. But the fact that winning is a constantly moving target actually can be quite fun, and it was this version of Fluxx that sealed the deal for me and finally won me over.
The card art here is pretty simple, but it seems to really fit the Adventure Time theme. You can’t take Fluxx to seriously, and the most fun comes from messing with rules and doing crazy combinations and somehow that really fits with the world of Finn and Jake. As with the other recent versions of Fluxx the card stock is a little thin, but the cards take a beating, I can only think they kept them thin so you could shuffle all 100 cards in the deck.
Honestly, it’s hard for me to put my finger on why it was this particular version of Fluxx that finally won me over to the game, I think it’s just the right theme for the game, and it’s enough fun to add it to your game library, as something different from the other games out there,
